Family Therapy
in Middleborough, MA, East Bridgewater,
MA, North Kingstown, RI & Carroll, NH

The Psyched Group provides family therapy when home life feels tense, chaotic, or stuck. Relatives meet with a therapist to name what is not working and to try different ways of relating in real time. Clinicians keep the tone respectful so children, teens, parents, and caregivers can take part without being treated as the single problem.

What Is Family Therapy?

Family therapy is psychotherapy that treats the household as the client rather than isolating one identified patient. Concerns are viewed as interaction patterns that members help maintain, even unintentionally. Several relatives work with the therapist to see those patterns as they happen, repair ruptures, and practice more supportive ways of living together.

Your Family Therapy Journey With Us

Initial Consultation and Assessment

Your first meeting is an assessment of how the household is organized, what each person wants to be different, and which stressors feel most urgent. Everyone is invited to speak, and no one has to tell the same story about why you came. The therapist uses that picture to recommend who should attend and how often.

Together you set specific goals, such as fewer blowups around homework or clearer agreements between caregivers. Goals stay concrete enough to review later and can change as the family changes. This step keeps the work tied to your priorities instead of a generic agenda.

Later visits are working sessions. The therapist structures conversation, uses therapeutic exercises, and may draw on CBT or DBT skills so members can pause, listen, and respond differently while the issue is still in the room. You practice in session what you hope to do during the week.

As care winds down, the focus is using those skills without the therapist present. You review what to do if old patterns return and whether a later psychotherapy, 45 min or psychotherapy, 60 min visit would help. The aim is a household that can handle the next disagreement on its own.

Who Is Family Therapy For?

Benefits of Family Therapy

Families often leave with a shared language for hard topics and fewer cycles of blame. Members learn to set limits without humiliation, repair after a fight, and notice one another’s needs sooner. That shift can lower day-to-day tension and make room for warmth, humor, and teamwork at home.

Why Families Choose The Psyched Group

Families come to The Psyched Group because sessions stay practical and inclusive. We do not reduce a household’s struggle to one problem child or one difficult parent. Each person is asked to take a share of the change, and the therapist protects the process so quieter members still have a voice.
